As a default our software will pull in utility rate data from OpenEI Utility Rate Database.
We do however also recommend adding utility rates yourself and building up your own database. When programming your own custom rates you’re also able to program net metering and net billing rates.
To program your Utility Rates follow these steps for the three different tabs we have:
All States/Provinces
As a default our software will pull utility data in from Open EI. If Open EI does not have data for a specific co-ordinate if this section is populated our software will pull in the utility rates for all states/provinces with the data that you enter here.
To populate the All States/Provinces tab follow these steps:
1. Click on the gear icon and open the Installation Settings page.
2. Open the 'Utility Rates' accordion.
3. Go to the All States/Provinces tab and populate a Fixed Charge and Rate Amount, and click save. The Rate Amount is the Cost Per kWh.
4. If relevant to the states you are selling in, select the 'Savings to calculate past 100% offset' toggle and add the 'Utility Fixed Solar Cost' and 'Export Rate'. You can also select the Billing Type dropdown, choose either Net Metering or Net Billing from the drop-down and enter in all of the corresponding property fields.
To get a detailed breakdown of net metering and net billing, and how to program it follow the instructions outlined in this article.
